Day 28: Sanchez/Food!

Nola Studiola: What fruit and what vegetable each deserve a week-long celebration? Please explain.

Strawberries. Why? Because I have a really hard time making myself eat fruit. In fact, I don’t like it that much and I subscribe to the fruit matrix: I like something in the tasty but low maintenance quadrant of the matrix. Strawberries are sweet and delicious and so easy to eat. (An example of not so tasty and really hard to prepare: pineapples. Yuck.)

As a vegetarian, it’s hard for me to choose my favorite vegetable. (In answering this question, I actually had to go research the difference between fruits and vegetables because I kept coming up with fruits instead of vegetables! Tomatoes, red bell peppers and cucumbers to name a few. Does this mean I actually like fruit more than I thought? I digress.) So if we’re going with the strict botanical sense of vegetable, I’d have to say onion. I love them–raw and diced on a salad, on a burger, sauteed in a taco, you name it.
